He was then absent from movies for nearly a decade, before returning to acting to star in the film Party Monster and Saved! The 1990 flick made a star out of child actor Macaulay Culkin, who played the ever resourceful Kevin McCallister. After Hector confirmed the card Kevin checked in with as being "stolen," he decided to bring Kevin to the police. Kevin escaped by using the film Angels with Even Filthier Souls to scare him and the rest of the staff away. The film assisted Kevin to make it seem like Kevin's angry father was making accusations toward the staff, ending in gunfire.
Kevin reconciles with his family, and goes to Central Park to give one of his turtledoves to the pigeon lady, cementing their friendship. Set one year after the first film, The McCallister family is preparing to spend Christmas in Miami, and gathers at Kate and Peter's Chicago home. Their youngest son, Kevin, views Florida as contradictory to Christmas, due to its tropical climate and lack of Christmas trees.

After Kevin escaped, Hector ordered the other guests to stay in their rooms and told them that there was an insane guest with a gun. Originally, they had plans to make “Home Alone 2” and “Home Alone 3” at the same time. Upon arrival, he decides to tour the city, but becomes frightened by a homeless woman tending to pigeons in Central Park. He uses Peter's credit card to check in at the Plaza Hotel, not knowing that the Wet Bandits have also reached the city after escaping from prison.
Each of these characters—like Joan Cusack’s neck-braced nerd in Sixteen Candles or Jonathan Schmock’s snooty maître d’ in Ferris Bueller—has their own bright spark of life and motivation. Lost in New York, by necessity, has to change much of this dynamic, at least in the film’s first and second acts. Hughes has to find something else for Kevin to experience, something that begins as alluring but quickly becomes frightening the more he realizes that absolute freedom isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. That means that, once again, Kevin has to be surrounded by a crop of skeptical adults, and in true Hughes fashion, they all must be, in some way or another, complete weirdos. Mr. Hector is never addressed by his name, nor is he credited as such, with his name appearing only on his nametag. He was played by actor Tim Curry who is best known for his portrayals such as Dr. Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island, etc.
It also made $100 million in 24 days, compared to 33 days for the original “Home Alone.” However, the sequel did not have the legs of the original. “Lost in New York” did make a hearty $359 million worldwide, but “Home Alone” made $476 million. Duncan’s Toy Chest is not a real store, but it has a real-life inspiration. It’s based on the massive F.A.O. Schwarz toy store in Manhattan. You may know it as the toy store that Ton Hanks goes to in “Big.” While it wasn’t a real store, all of the kids in the toy store scene shot there were allowed to keep one toy as a memento. As with basically every movie, “Home Alone 2” went through a few drafts and alterations.
The writer of "Home Alone 2," John Hughes, also wrote and directed "The Breakfast Club,"which starred Ally Sheedy as Allison Reynolds. Before the crime duo appears on screen in the sequel, the Wet Bandits' escape from prison is mentioned in a newspaper article in the Chicago Sun-Times . The producers thought it was 'too mean' to have a young actress audition for the role with those connotations and instead used the art director's son. The biggest difference in all the cast members is one that few often remember – the actor who played Buzz's elusive girlfriend. He worked steadily throughout his career and following Home Alone's release in 1990, he scored roles in The Pelican Brief, Before and After, and Snake Eyes.
Gerry's last film credit was for his appearance in the crime series The Following in 2015, and he appears to have given up acting. Gerry Bamman's role as Kevin's grumpy uncle Frank, whom he played in Home Alone and Home Alone 2, is considered his most famous. He is still acting and has joined the cast of For All Mankind for Season 4, which is due to be released on Apple TV in 2023.
