Cedric was searching through Kevin's bag to look for Peter's wallet while Kevin was checking the refrigerator. Kevin almost caught him by saying "Hey!" Cedric stopped by smoothly asking him if he wants to put the key in the bag or if he just wants to hold on to the key so Kevin grabbed the key and the bag. Cedric asked him if everything was alright and if the temperature in the room looked okay, to which Kevin answered that it was okay. Cedric asked if Kevin knew how to operate the TV, to which Kevin answered that TV was his life.

The scene where Mr. Hector trips on a coffee table while fleeing the suite after being frightened by Kevin was not in the script. Curry actually tripped on the furniture and the director thought it was hilarious, and he left it in for the final cut. Home Alone is, for all its slapstick fun, a little bit of a bottle movie. After Kevin's family in New York, they confronted Hector and the staff for letting him check-in without an adult, being fooled by his story, and for making Kevin flee the hotel. When they tried to question him about the credit card, Hector took great pride in this, but the McCallisters were unimpressed. Kevin's mother Kate blamed him for making Kevin leave, and slapped him for this foolishness. Of course, Joe was busy with a successful acting career, which included playing Harry Lime in theHome Alonefranchise.
After Hector confirmed the card Kevin checked in with as being "stolen," he decided to bring Kevin to the police. Kevin escaped by using the film Angels with Even Filthier Souls to scare him and the rest of the staff away. The film assisted Kevin to make it seem like Kevin's angry father was making accusations toward the staff, ending in gunfire.
Dana Ivey is remarkable as a desk clerk who carefully builds a façade of elegant composure only to let it crumble later. Eddie Bracken is wonderfully deployed as Mr. Duncan, the owner of a toy store which serves as one of the film’s centerpieces. Then of course, there’s the great Brenda Fricker as the Pigeon Lady, a character who serves the same purpose as Roberts Blossom in the original film, but whom Fricker nevertheless makes her own through a deep, contemplative warmth.
Cedric attempted to tell him to wait as Kevin shut the door in his face. Earlier, upon landing in Miami, the McCallister family discover that Kevin is missing and file a police report. After the police trace Peter's credit card, the family flies immediately to New York. Meanwhile, Kevin goes to his uncle's townhouse, only to find it vacant and undergoing renovations. In Central Park, Kevin encounters and eventually befriends the pigeon lady, who takes him to Carnegie Hall.
